Location: The administrative district of Morigaon situates itself between 26.15'and 26.5'N latitude and between 92'-95.5' E longitude. The second smallest district of Assam, Morigaon, is 78km. from the state's capital Dispur and is bounded by Brahmaputra on the North, Karbi Anglong on the South, Nagaon on the East and Kamrup on the West.

Infrastructure and Economy: The extremely scenic district of Morigaon, with rolling hills covered with tropical greenery and the snow-clad Himalayas forming the backdrop, is criss-crossed with numerous rivers. To the north Brahmaputra marks the boundary and the Killing, Kollong and Kapili rivers drain the southern part of the district.

The economy is predominantly agrarian in this alluvial plain and steps are extensively taken to convey technical know how among the farming community through training, demonstration and field visits. However, flood damages, fund shortage and power crisis largely affects developmental projects every year.

Small Scale Industries, handloom weaving, and animal husbandry has a vast potentiality for economic advancement through self-employment. Jagiroad in Morigaon District houses Asia's largest dry fish market for supply to the north-eastern part of the country as also for import to some South-Asian countries as well as Singapore and Malaysia.

Tourist Attractions: Morigaon has three Reserved Forest Sunaikuchi, Khulahat, and Bura Mayong and Pabitora Wildlife Sanctuary is Home to the world famous one horned Rhino with a density of five Rhinos per sq.km. Pobitora also boasts of rare species of migratory birds, wild buffalos and wild pigs.

Sivakundu, a picturesque water fall in the Amsoi hill is a favorite spot for family getaways.
