Having a very important location in India, Maharashtra is the focus of all the foreign tourists as well as those from within the country. Apart from that there are people who make regular business trips to Mumbai and other important cities of the state from all around the country. This increases the necessity of having a well connected airway system both within the state and outside it.

Maharashtra is very well connected by air. All the major cities of the state have domestic airports. The airways system is very well developed with a number of intra – city domestic flights as well as air routes between the cities of Maharashtra and the other major cities of the country. The domestic terminal in Mumbai is known as the Santa Cruz Airport which is at a distance of 4 km from Sahar where the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is located. There are domestic airports in the cities of Pune, Nashik, Solapur, Auranghabad. Maharashtra is one of the states in India which has an international airport. The airport has 36 airlines which provide flights to all the major cities of the world. The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport covers an area of 1450 acres and was formerly known as the Sahar International Airport.

The Air India and the Indian Airlines provides information on flight bookings, arrivals, departures and cancellations. The Jet Airways provides air services between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Bangalore, Mumbai and Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi. It also provides intra – city air services from Mumbai to Nagpur and other major cities. Pune is another important airport if the state. The airlines which provide an air service to Maharashtra are Air Sahara, SpiceJet, Go Air, Indigo, Kingfisher, Air Deccan and Visa Airways. From these airports there is easy transportation inside the city with the help of pre – paid taxicab.

Flight schedules: Arrival and Departure from Mumbai
Jet Airways: There are flights which depart at 0700, 0855, 1145, 1500, 1805, 2030 and 2230 hrs. Arrivals at Mumbai airport are at 04:35, 08:15, 10:50, 11:55, 17:25, 19:15 and 0435 hrs respectively.

Air India: operates flights which depart from Mumbai at 0100, 0300 and 1905 hrs and arrive at 0500, 0200 and 0730 hrs respectively.

Sahara Airlines operate flights departing from Mumbai at 1015, 1450 and 2040 hrs and arrive at 0755, 1415 and 1415 hrs respectively.
