Suraj Pol is the main gateway of the Fort and leads to the Bichla Darwaza while the Uttar Pol leads to the chief courtyard from where majestic a flight of stairs take us to the Diwan Khana.
The Diwan-i-Khas or the Hall Of Private Audience comprises a mustard or flax colored arcade. While the stain glass windows impart warm colors to the chamber, the Louis XIV furniture and library housing a rare collection of books add to the olde worlde charm of the Fort. A jail or lattice work gallery called the duchatta in the Diwan-i-Khas allowed the womenfolk to observe the proceedings in Purdah without revealing themselves. The pale blue setting of the zenana, the dragon embossed and hand carved table of the Thakurani's reading chamber and the royal aura of the Fort seem to transport the visitor to some historic era. The walls of the fort are adorned with beautiful floral paintings, episodes from the religious epics, traditional motifs. The towers and the arms used as wall hangings remind us of the warring times of ancient Rajasthan.
Dunlod Fort has now been converted into a heritage hotel and the tourists take immense pleasure in the spectacular views from the chowks, the ramparts and the teracces.
An admission fee of Rs 20 is charged per visitor and the Dunlod Fort is open from sunrise to sunset.
