State overview
The state of Jharkhand is located in the northeastern part of the country. It is situated between the states of Bihar to the north, West Bengal to the east, Odisha to the south, Chhatisgarh to the west, and Uttar Pradesh to the northwest. As per the last census of the state, the estimated population is approximately 4.06 crore. The state ranks 15th in terms of the geographical area. The state has shown consistent economic growth, with its numbers reflecting an increase since the previous years. The legislative assembly of Jharkhand is the lower house of the bicameral legislature. Presently, the election in Jharkhand is done directly by electing 81 members of the Legislative Assembly, elected directly from single-seat constituencies.

The Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha Constituency comprises 81 constituencies. These constituencies are spread across 24 districts. Among these, 44 are general, 28 are reserved for scheduled tribes (ST), and nine are for scheduled castes (SC). This distribution has remained unchanged since the formation of the state in 2000.

The Jharkhand State Election Commission was established after the state came into existence in 2001. The election in Jharkhand for its legislative assembly was held in two phases. The first phase was conducted on November 13, 2024, for 43 constituencies, and the second phase on November 20, 2024, for 38 constituencies. The result is to be announced on November 23, 2024. During the elections in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly in 2019, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) was the largest party with 30 seats. After this came the BJP in second place with 25 seats. Congress was able to secure 16 seats. The JMM formed the government with support from the Congress party and the RJD. Post this, Hemant Soren took oath as the chief minister of the state.

The current battle of Jharkhand is between two coalitions: the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led INDIA bloc and the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA.
BJP
The BJP has placed candidates in 68 seats while allying with the All-Jharkhand Students Union, which is contesting on 10 seats. The Bihar Chief Minister's Party is contesting on two seats and the Lok Janshakti Party on 1 seat.

On the other hand, in the INDIA Bloc, the JMM is contesting 41 seats, Congress on 30 seats, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on 6 and the Communist Party of India on 4.
