The 1934 games were scheduled to be held in Johannesburg in South Africa, but due to some reasons the venue was shifted to London. The swimming event of the 1934 Common Wealth Games was held in Empire Pool of Wembley and the cycling event was held in Fallowfield Stadium of Manchester. That year about 17 countries took part in the event. Irish Free State also competed in this event.
In the 1934 Commonwealth Games six sports were included. Some of the games that featured in this event included athletics, diving, boxing, lawn bowls, swimming as well as wrestling. In this tournament it was for the first time that women were allowed to participate in athletics on an international level.
Almost 500 competitors from various countries of the world took part in the 1934 Commonwealth Games. The list of the countries which took part in the event are:

England topped the position with 29 gold, 20 silver and 24 bronze. Canada won the second position with 17 gold, 25 silver and 9 bronze and Australia secured the third position with 8 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals.
The 2010 Commonwealth Games will be organized in the city of Delhi.
