Sector 16 Cricket Stadium ranks among the major cricket stadiums in India. Located in the city of Chandigarh in the state of Haryana, the stadium is a venue for both Test and One Day cricket matches. The Sector 16 Cricket Stadium is managed by the Haryana Cricket Association.
The Sector 16 Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh was the first cricket stadium of its kind in the state. The stadium hosted the Ranji Trophy Plate League semi-final in the 2004-2005 season after a period of 10 years. It was a big success and hundreds of spectators turned up to watch the match.
The Sector 16 Cricket Stadium, Chandigarh has hosted both test and one day matches. Only one test has been hosted here. It was between India and Sri Lanka in the year 1990. The first One Day International (ODI) was played between India and England in the year 1985. After a long wait of 12 years, an ODI was played between India and Australia in the year 2007.
