Kingfisher Airlines Locations

Based in Bangalore, Kingfisher Airline is a private airline owned by Dr. Vijay Mallya. It started its operations on May 9, 2005 with a fleet of 4 leased Airbus A-320 aircrafts. Kingfisher was the first airline in India to operate with all-new aircrafts.

Ever since the airline started it had been facing financial problems. In December 2011, the airline had the 2nd largest share in India's domestic air travel market. In the beginning of 2012, the airline had a severe financial crisis.

Due to this the airline fleet was radically reduced from 63 to 16. Out the remaining 16, a majority were repossessed or confiscated in 2012. As of October 2012, the Airlines fleet consists of just seven aircrafts.

On 20th October 2012, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India, suspended its flying license. The airline flying license was suspended after the airline failed to deal with the Indian regulator's concerns about its operations.

In February 2013, the Government of India announced the removal of both domestic and international flight rights and slots which were allocated to the airline.
