Lakhs of people have been displaced, while hundreds are missing after heavy rainfall in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The death toll has risen to 49, as per media reports. The main flood affected areas include the districts of Barabanki and Balrampur, as the two rivers flowing through the region, namely the Ghagra River and the Rapti River are flowing above the red mark due to heavy rainfall.
