10 Killed in Road Mishap in Satara

Ten people have died and 30 others injured in a road accident that took place on the Pune-Satara road. The accident occurred when the container of a heavy commercial vehicle (HCV) dropped off a bridge on a tourist bus at 10 p.m. on Monday.

The site of accident has been reported as 700 metres away from the tunnel of the Khambatki Ghat. The bus had departed from Kolhapur and was moving towards Pune. It had the registration number of Gujarat.

As reported by Shridhar Jadhav, the Inspector of the Khandala police station, all passengers in the bus were Gujaratis. Among the dead, there are three males and seven females. Four more vehicles were damaged in this unfortunate happening.

The injured were assisted by the local people. Moreover, the vehicles passing by stopped to help. The injured were later taken to the nearest hospitals in Khandala and Satara.
