The Kurukshetra district of Haryana was established in the year 1973 and has its head quarters at the historic town of Kurukshetra. The district is located north eastern part of the state, lying between 29° 52' and 30°12' North latitudes and 76° 25' to 77° 04' East longitudes.
The total area of Kurukshetra district is 1,68,253 hectares and has a population of 8,25,454.
It is one of the agriculturally prosperous districts of the state with wheat and sugarcane being the main crops. The industrial sector of the district is also greatly influenced by agriculture.
