History
Situated near Nainital in Uttarakhand, Jim Corbett National Park is Asia’s first National Park. It was created by the British and assisted by conservationist Jim Corbett. The Park is home to various wild animals such as the Royal Bengal Tigers and the Asiatic Elephants. It is one of the richest ‘bird regions’ in India with over 586 species.
Wildlife
Besides Tigers and elephants, the park also contains leopards, barking deer, sambhar, sloth, chital, langurs, otters, Himalayan black bears among others. It has 7 species of amphibians including alligators and crocodiles.
Tourism
The most sought after tourist attraction is the jungle Safari. The safari takes you deep into the woods where you can watch all kinds of animals in their natural habitat if you’re lucky you might even get a glimpse of a tiger.
The Park boasts the highest number of tigers in India. It has a diverse terrain with rivers, waterfalls, plateaus and hills. You can explore the mountains or sit by the river while you delve deeper into the flora and fauna of Uttarakhand.

Jim Corbett is best seen on foot taking your time to smell the flowers, look at the birds or just sit beside a river. The Park has guides that will take you on the right and safe track as it can be dangerous to wander alone in a national reserve. Spend a day immersed in the greenery that the park has to offer.
Elephant Safari
You can also choose elephant riding as an adventure activity, it can be a little dangerous for children. The elephant ride will give you a better view of the place plus bring you closer to nature.

By air
The nearest airport is at Jolly Grant from where you can book a taxi to Jim Corbett.
By road
Bring your car or take a taxi from various cities in Uttarakhand. Jim Corbett will be a favourite for wildlife enthusiasts. It will bring you closer to nature and wildlife. The best time to visit the park is from October- November.
