Margoa - Dona Paula Beach

Popular folklore has it tat the beach is named after Dona Paula de Menzes, the daughter of the former Viceroy of the region. She was refused the permission to marry the local fisherman, Gasper Dias whom she loved. Dona Paula de Menzes gave her life jumping from a cliff. The local people residing near the beach believe that the spirit of Dona Paula de Menzes emerges from the sea on a moonlight night draped in only a necklace.
