The story behind Mehar’s Name

The word Maihar means ‘Necklace of Mother”. ‘Mai’ is a word used to address mothers in the local dialect and “haar” means a necklace. Because this city is believed to be where Goddess Sati’s necklace fell when God Shiva was carrying her. It came to be known as Maihar(Mai ka Haar).
