The plot is about seven bachelors living in Banglore in a rented house. They live on booze and parties most nights. One day after partying, the head of the group, Sajin, decides to give roles to do household chores. They adjust accordingly, along with each person’s quirks. Mukesh is a Hans addict, and Karikuttan is the innocent one. Soman’s last business was toilets which was a loss. The house has many toilet seats. Soman’s interest in a girl puts him in trouble, but Rivin saves him. Rivin is the only person with a proper job, a girlfriend, and a single room. He is a God believer.

The story gets dark when Jibi plays Ouija Board because of his boredom. At first, he and Shijappan create a girl named Anamika and start making other people interested in this game. As days passed, people went to their rented house to get various questions cleared. Rivin disapproves and considers it a sin. One day people fought with him as they thought he was cutting the line to enter the game. That was the end for people as they were not let in. But unnatural things started to happen.

Jibi brought his friend Sinu to stay with them. Sinu acts weirdly. Jibi and Riri decide to tail him. One night, Sinu leaves the house and talks about Anamika. The next day his parents came to take him back. Jibi tries to make others believe that the ghost is a lie as it is a made-up name. But eventually, the glass moves on its own, and he believes in the ghost. They stop playing the game. But things get worse. They decide to play one last time, and it creates chaos.

Analysis

The movie Romancham is inspired by real-life incidents from the director’s life. It is a humour-based horror movie without jumpscares or exaggerations. The movie ending was a bit too quick and also random. But the scenes made up for it. The storyline is simple. The cinematography and background music matches the emotions of the audience.

Verdict

Each actor had crucial parts to play in the movie. The sequences of scenes are funny and give a memorable theatrical experience. The first half turns out to be funnier, and the second scares and makes horror scenes more humourous.
