
I’ve been longing to eat something spicy for some time now so today evening I made Chilly Paneer a typical Chinese touch to a wholly Indian ingredient. Most of the people in India love paneer, so this dish goes well with the masses and great for vegetarians opting for Chinese option. The spring onions and capsicum adds to the taste and makes it very appealing and as obvious the spices create the magic. Its fairly easy to make Chilly Paneer and it is best suited for small parties or evening snack/ starters. Ingredients needed for Chilly Paneer
(serves 4)
Paneer – 400 gms
Spring onion – 2 tbsp (chopped) + for garnishing
Onion – 1/2 cup (cut in square pieces)
Garlic – 5/6 cloves (cut in small pieces)
Green chili – 1 to 2 (cut in small pieces)
Oil for frying + 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Red chili powder – 1 tsp
Soya sauce – 1 tsp
Vinegar – 1 tsp
MSG – 1/4 tsp
Cornflour – 1 tbsp (mixed in 1/4 cup of water)
For Batter
Cornflour – 1/4 cup
Maida – 1/4 cup
Salt to taste
How to make Chilly Paneer
Preparation time: 15 min.
Cooking time: 15 min.
Mix the ingredients for the batter with water to make a smooth paste.
Cut the paneer in small pieces, dip the pieces in the batter and deep fry.
Drain the oil and keep paneer pieces aside.
In a wok, take 1 tbsp oil and add garlic, onion, spring onion, capsicum, green chili and toss well.
Add soy sauce, salt, red chili powder, MSG, vinegar and toss again.
Add paneer pieces and cornflour mixture and cook for a minute with continuous tossing.
Garnish with spring onion.
Serve hot.
