
Curry leaves are extensively used in India and specially in South India, they have known health benefits such as aiding in improving eye sight, remedy for indigestion and more. They are used as ingredient in lot’s of dishes in the southern part of India, so today I used this leaves mixed with pepper to make Curry Leaf Pepper Chicken. I served it with some home made paratha, it will also go well with kerala parota. Just follow this Curry Leaf Pepper Chicken Recipe to make it with ease.
Ingredients needed for Curry Leaf Pepper Chicken
(serves 2)
Curry cut chicken – 500 gms.
Oil – 2 tbsp
Curry leaves – 18 to 20
Black pepper corns – 8 to 10
Kalonji – 1/2 tsp
Saunf – 1/2 tsp
Onion – 2 cup (cut in small pieces)
Garlic cloves – 10 to 12 (cut in small pieces)
Ginger – 1 inch piece (grated)
Green chili – 2 (cut in small pieces)
Tomato – 1 cup (cut in small pieces)
Tomato puree – 1 tbsp
Red chili powder – 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Dhania leaves for garnishing.
How to make Curry Leaf Pepper Chicken
Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 30 min
In a pan heat the oil, add kalonji, saunf and black pepper corns and crackle.
Add curry leaves and fry for few seconds.
Add cut onions and fry till golden brown.
Add garlic, ginger, green chili and saute.
Add tomatoes and cook till soft and oil starts the leave the sides.
Add chicken, tomato puree and fry for few minutes.
Add salt and red pepper powder and mix well.
Add 1 cup water and cook for 15 min with cover on low flame till chicken is done.
Garnish with fresh dhania leaves.
Serve hot.
