
Do you sometimes wish to just give a great surprise to your family and friends? Make something they rarely see or eat, and they would definitely feel the surprise and if this something is extra tasty then it is just an absolute blessing. I made Potli Samosa and people just could not believe that these were actually made at home, be it the taste or the shape, both were a delight! I suggest you try them at home too, you could serve them as breakfast, however I served them in the evening and dinner wasn’t just needed as these are pretty heavy. All you need is (serves 4)
Oil for frying
For Outer Dough
Maida – 1 1/2 cup
Sooji – 3 tsp
Ajwain – 1/4 tsp
Oil – 1/4 cup
Salt to taste
For Inner Filling
Boiled and peeled potato – 250 gm
Boiled peas – 1 cup
Green chili – 1 (cut in small pieces)
Fresh dhania leaves – 2 tsp
Salt to taste
Garam masala – 1/4 tsp
Red chili powder – 1/2 tsp
Amchoor – 1/4 tsp
Zeera – 1/2 tsp
Hing – 1/4 tsp
Oil – 1 tbsp
Potli Samosa Recipe
Preparation time: 10 min.
Cooking time: 20 min.
For Inner Filling
Mash the potatoes, mix peas. Keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan, add zeera and hing, when it starts to crackle add potato and peas mixture.
Add green chili, dhania leaves and all dry masala and mix well.
Cook for about 6-7 min. Keep aside.
For Outer Dough
Mix about 2 tsp maida in equal amount of water to form a paste. Keep aside.
Mix all ingredients and use warm water to knead a tight dough.
Keep aside for half an hour.
For Potli Samosa
Divide the dough in 6-8 equal parts and roll into a disc. Also use this dough to make equal number of thin dough ropes
Apply maida paste on the outer sides.
Keep the inner filling in the center and close from all sides, tie the rope on the closing to form a potli.
Heat oil in a kadhai on low heat.
Fry for about 12 min on low heat and about 3-4 min on medium heat until potli’s are golden brown.
Let it cool slightly and serve.
