
Tofu is made from soy milk, and bears close resemblance to paneer made from regular milk. It has been made famous by the Chinese, Thai and other south east Asian cuisines. It also also found its way into India in past decade and used in number of dishes adapted from neighboring countries and some within the country. It is healthy to eat and tastes nice, so why not also use it at home to make a dish for yourself. I mixed tofu with some other vegetables to make this Sweet & Sour Tofu preparation, served with some rice and the meal came out very well. It had the right balance of sweetness and tangy, so everyone enjoyed it. Here is the Sweet & Sour Tofu Recipe for you to use.
All you need is (serves 4)
Green capsicum – 1 cup (cut in large squares)
Red capsicum – 1 cup (cut in large squares)
Yellow capsicum – 1 cup (cut in large squares)
Tofu – 2 cup (cut in cubes)
Zucchini – 1 (cut in rounds)
Carrots – 2 (cut in rounds)
Mushroom – 1 cup (chopped)
Broccoli – 1 cup
Garlic – 5 to 7 cloves (chopped)
Oil – 2 tbsp
Soy sauce – 1 tbsp
Chili sauce – 1 tbsp
Tomato ketchup – 1 tbsp
Brown sugar – 1 tbsp
Vinegar – 1 tbsp
Corn flour – 2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Black pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
Spring onions for garnishing.
Sweet & Sour Tofu Recipe
Preparation time: 15 min.
Cooking time: 15 min.
Heat oil in a pan and add garlic, saute for a min.
Add all other vegetables except tofu and add 2 cup water and cook for 2-3 min.
Add all sauces, salt, black pepper powder, brown sugar and mix well
Dissolve cornflour in 1/2 cup water and add it to the preparation.
Add tofu and cook for a min.
Garnish with spring onions.
Serve hot.
