Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali, India's most trusted Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) brand, has entered the telecom industry with the launch of Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM card. The news has created a lot of sensation among the users of mobile phones in the last two days after the announcement of its entry in the telecom sector. The people of India were already having a good time with the splendid offers of Reliance's Jio, but now, the situation is going to take an interesting turn with Baba Ramdev also becoming a full-fledged telecom ruler.
Being a true "swadeshi" by heart and soul, Baba Ramdev is leaving no stones unturned to make India a complete swadeshi country. Ever since its inception, Patanjali has forayed into dozens of categories; from staples to snacks, food items and personal care and gained profound popularity in the consumer goods market. With the launch of the Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM card, Patanjali has supplemented a new chapter to its Swadeshi-based services in the telecom sector.
Patanjali has tied up with the ‘full swadeshi’ telecom company, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to launch these sim cards. The motive behind the launch of these simcards is the welfare of the country. The BSNL will provide low-cost plans to the workers of Patanjali’s main organisations- Bharat Swabhiman Nyas, Patanjali Yog Samiti, Mahila Prakostha, Yuva Bharat and Patanjali Kisan Seva. The Swadeshi Samriddhi sim card holders will also be availed of the benefits of the low-cost plans from BSNL. The entry of Patanjali in the telecom sector with cheap and affordable plans will be tough task for the other telecom companies. Now, it would be really interesting to see how Patanjali moves affect them.
