About Fan

Fan is a Shah Rukh Khan VS Shah Rukh Khan thriller which has the Badshah Khan stepping out of his comfort zone of portraying the character of a die-hard romantic. Fan will take you back to the days of Darr and Anjaan when SRK played the obsessive lover/stalker, we couldn’t resist praising. The movie is about the imaginary relationship between a star and his fan wherein the latter is street smart and cynical and expects way too much from the former. Fan is Maneesh Sharma’s directorial thriller drama which has the Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan portraying two very different roles in a flawless way. Plot The movie “Fan” has SRK playing the role of a superstar Aryan Khanna and also of a creepy obsessed fan named Gaurav who has great prosthetics and sparkling white teeth. On getting a chance to meet Aryan Khanna, Gaurav heads straight to Mumbai to meet his favourite actor and wish him on his birthday. Bearing a striking resemblance to the  superstar, Gaurav’s love and passion for his God turns into a dangerous obsession that crosses every boundary. Gaurav, then, travels around the world, following on Aryan’s footsteps and stages crimes whose blame are being pinned on the reputed movie actor. Fan is an edge-of-the-seat thriller that peels away the personalities and characters of both, Gaurav and Aryan in a fantastic way. The deficiency of songs definitely doesn’t make Fan an easy-to-miss flick.

Performances

Shah Rukh Khan is undoubtedly a must-see for his brilliant acting skills in the movie ‘Fan’. Having rarely revealed such an acting talent in his prior movies including Happy New Year and Chennai Express, the actor has balanced both the characters (Aryan Khanna and Gaurav) outstandingly. His performance is beyond excellence and the superstar has yet again proved his worth in Bollywood. It is noteworthy that a particular type of 3D technique was being utilized for making Shah Rukh Khan look like a 17-year-old boy. Next are Deepika Amin and Yogendra Tiku, who have portrayed the roles of Gaurav’s mother and father in the movie. Both have fitted well into their characters and their on-screen portrayal of parents of a die-hard movie actor's fan is laudable. Making her debut with ‘Fan’ is famous comedian-cum-actor Sachin Pilgaonkar’s daughter, Shriya.  In addition, actors, including Sayani Gupta and Waluscha De Sousa, can also be seen in pivotal roles doing complete justice to their characters in the flick. Fan Music Fan has an elevating music by the duo Vishal-Shekhar with Andrea Guerra handling the background score and lyrics written by Varun Grover. The song “Jabra Fan’ is the only USP of Fan with its eight different versions (in prominent Indian languages) been sung by popular regional singers.

Details of songs in the movie

1. “Jabra Fan (Hindi)” Singer(s): Nakash Aziz Duration: 03:45

What’s Good?

Best things about Fan include Shah Rukh Khan (both as Aryan and Gaurav), superb screenplay, dialogues, direction, VFX effects, music and cinematography. Whether it’s about flaunting a giant-size star ego or occupying the silver screen as a young, star-struck fan; Shah Rukh Khan has put in his best efforts to make both the characters believable.

What’s Bad?

Well, minor dips throughout the narration and some easily noticeable flaws in the second half are the only two downsides of Fan. Verdict If you have watched all Maneesh Sharma-directed movies, then Fan is definitely the one you can’t afford to miss. As a flick with an unusual plot, Fan will allow you to view the madness of a fan and the heavy persona of a superstar. Go and watch Fan if you want to get a good glimpse of the never-seen-before side of SRK’s personality. Fan Movie Rating **** (4/5)
