Mr. X: Movie Review

Nandni April 17, 2015
Mr. X MovieRelease Date: 17 April 2015 Cast: Emraan Hashmi, Amyra Dastur, Arunoday Singh Direction: Vikram Bhatt Music: Jeet Ganguly, Ankit Tiwari and Ankur Tiwari Duration: 2 hours 12 minutes For all the Bhatt fans out there, it's time to rejoice as the production house finally brings back its glorified hero! After trying his luck outside for almost three years, Emraan Hashmi returns to his parent banner with a high-octane 3D sci-fi thriller, Mr.X! It is much like a typical Bhatt film with no dearth of songs and drama. Plot:  An ATD officer, Raghuram Rathod, becomes a scapegoat in a political assassination and gets attacked by those murderers. But as destiny holds it, he survives a blast only to realise that a chemical reaction terribly changed his body functions leading to partial invisibility. Does this unusual power prove to be a boon or just make him suffer more, is something that takes the story of Mr.X forward! Performances: Emraan Hashmi is undoubtedly a man of potential! But, his choice of films, lately, have been a big source of disappointment for his fans. Mr.X brings him back to where he belongs – the Bhatt camp! Even though the film doesn’t do justice to his talent, Emraan performs sincerely. Last seen in the box-office flop Issaq, Amyra Dastur struggles hard to be Emraan’s counterpart. She definitely needs to brush up her dialogue delivery and work on her acting skills. A total misfit for this role, Amyra Dastur looks as lost as any other heroine of the Bhatt camp! Arunoday Singh has definitely improved upon his screen presence and looks cold enough for a devilish role. Only if his dialogues were a little more mean, it could have given a lot of weightage to the film. Music: The world knows that the music album of Vishesh Films is always a blockbuster! The Bhatts can never ever go wrong with the songs and Mr.X proves this fact yet again! Each and every song of the movie is worth listening to on loop. Composers Ankit Tiwari, Jeet Ganguly and Ankur Tiwari have definitely done a good job for this one! Best one from the lot – ”Tu jo hai” by Ankit Tiwari – is already a superhit! What’s Good: Emraan Hashmi does a good job in entertaining the audience. The 3D effects used for the film are impressive and so is the cinematography. The music album of Mr.X is a major hit amongst the crowd. And guess what, even with Emraan in the lead, it happens to be a family film! What’s Bad: The plot of the movie is like an old wine served in a new bottle! It’s stale and predictable. The dialogues are too weak to be heard and become disappointing for the film. All in all, Mr.X proves to be just another film that runs high on love and revenge drama. Even the 3D effects could not add thrill to this sci-fi production. While the film is nothing exceptional in terms of outcome, it is definitely a treat for the true fans of Emraan Hashmi! Watch the film only if you are one of them! Verdict: Mr.X can be a decent family watch this weekend!
