Differentiate between Scheduled and Non-Scheduled Languages.

Class 10th Social science, Question Paper 2023: Differentiate between Scheduled and Non-Scheduled Languages.

Question: Differentiate between Scheduled and Non-Scheduled Languages.

The correct answer is –

In India, Scheduled Languages refer to those languages which are listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. These languages have been given official recognition and support by the government. As per the Constitution, these languages are required to be used for official purposes, including in the proceedings of the Parliament and the State Legislatures, as well as for educational and cultural purposes. Currently, there are 22 languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.

On the other hand, Non-Scheduled Languages refer to all other languages that are spoken in India, but have not been given official recognition by the government. While these languages are not used for official purposes, they are still important as they represent the rich linguistic and cultural diversity of India. Many of these languages have a large number of speakers and contribute significantly to the cultural heritage of the country.
