Other features of this museum include the paintings of M.F Hussain and Laxman Pai, along with other contemporary painters of India. History of Amar Mahal Plalace Amar Mahal Palace was built in the 19th century as a residence of the Dogra king, Raja Amar Singh. Lush green patches and meadowlands surround it. It was the last residence of Dogra Kings. After that, it became a residence for Maharani Tara Devi. She was Raja Hari Singh's wife. After the queen died in 1967, her son and his wife converted the palace into a museum in 1975. The then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi inaugurated it.
