The Jorosanko Thakur bari is located in the capital city of West Bengal, Kolkata. It is the ancestral home of the prominent Indian poet- Rabindranath Tagore. Let’s know in detail about the Jorasanko Thakur Bari: About Jorasanko Thakur Bari Nilmoni Tagore built this house in 1784 when he left his paternal house due to a dispute in the family. Later, Rabindranath Tagore’s grandfather, Dwarkanath Tagore, expanded this house. In 1861, Rabindranath Tagore was born here. In 1959, the state government planned to set up a university to memorialise Rabindranath Tagore at the Jorasanko Thakur Bari. Finally, Rabindra Bharti University was founded in 1961 on Rabindranath Tagore’s birth anniversary.
