| Silvassa is the capital of the Indian Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli which is made up of two enclaves- Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Located at the foothills of the Western Ghats, Dadra and Nagar Haveli comprises of 72 small villages nestled between Gujarat and Maharashtra. Silvassa got its name from the Portugese word "Silva" which means "woods" owing to its large forest cover. This makes Silvassa a popular destination for eco tourism, as 53% of the city is under forest cover, making it an ideal habitat for a wide species of birds and animals. |

| Silvassa does not have its own railway station and the nearest railway station is located in Vapi, 13 kms from Silvassa and is well connected to cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Ahmedabad among others. One can hire an auto rickshaw or a taxi from the railway station to reach Silvassa. |
