India has seen a lot of success in Boxing in the
year 2009. With Vijender Kumar winning the first ever Olympic medal
(bronze) for India in Boxing in 2008, Indian boxing got new
enthusiasm and motivation in 2009, which led to some inspirational
performances from the Indian boxers. The highs of Indian boxing in
2009 would include wining of men’s world championship boxing
medal by Vijender Singh, Suranjoy Singh winning the first Asian
Championship gold for India in 15 years, Thokchom Nanao Singh and Jai
Bhagwar winning the silver medals etc.
