Madhuri Dixit Nene, the Dhak-Dhak girl of Bollywood, is an Indian actress who is known for her splendid work in Indian cinema. She made millions of people go crazy over her acting and dancing skills. The famous Bollywood actress was born on 15th May 1967 in Mumbai. She was one of the reigning actresses of the Hindi cinema from the 1980s, 1990s and, early 2000s.
Madhuri is the youngest daughter of Snehalata and Shankar Dixit. She completes her graduation from Parle College of Mumbai University after completing her schooling from Divine Child High School. An acclaimed Kathak dancer, she started learning this dance form at the age of 3 and received many awards for her dance in her younger days.
She made her Bollywood debut in the film, Abodh (1984) but after the release of her film Tezaab (1988), she never looked back. Although she was a successful model in India before entering Bollywood, it took her 8 years to get a commercial breakthrough in the film, Tezaab in 1988 for which she won a Filmfare award. Her “Ek do teen” song from this film was a chartbuster and still considered as the classic one. Since then this gorgeous lady was honored with Filmfare Awards for her remarkable acting skills in many hit films such as Dil, Beta, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun! And Dil To Pagal Hai. So far, she has won six Filmfare Awards, four for Best Actress, one for Best Supporting Actress and one special award for her contribution to the film industry.
In 1999, this renowned actress tied the nuptial knot with an Indian American surgeon, Dr. Sriram Madhav Nene and relocated to Denver in the U.S.A. She has two sons named Arin and Ryan.
In 2000, the famous Indian painter M.F Hussain made a film, Gaja Gamini as a tribute to this beautiful lady. In 2001, she was honored with the National Citizens Award. Dixit has also won the Star Screen Awards and Zee Cine Awards. In 2002, Madhuri Dixit played the role of Chandramukhi in Devdas. This movie was a super-hit at the box office and was shown in the Cannes Film Festival.
She was awarded with Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award, by the Government of India in 2008. Dixit has also been a judge in the dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhla Jaa for four years. She has also been a part of many stage shows and has engaged in philanthropic activities.
