The flag of Qatar is meticulously designed, with an aspect ratio of 11:28, making its length approximately 1.55 times its width. The official color specifications are precise and include specific Pantone and RGB values for accurate replication.

The flag comprises two horizontal bands of equal width. The upper band is a deep maroon, often described as red-brown, while the lower band is pure white. The maroon band is positioned at the top of the flag, immediately followed by the white band.

The current design of the Qatar flag was officially adopted on July 9, 1971, following the country's independence from the United Kingdom on September 3, 1971. This design was chosen to become the national symbol, replacing the various flags used throughout Qatar's history.

The colors and elements of the flag bear significant symbolism. The maroon color symbolizes the valor and sacrifices made by Qatar's people in defense of their homeland. It is a representation of the blood shed by the nation's ancestors during their struggles, signifying the bravery and courage of the Qataris.

On the other hand, the white color represents peace and purity. It embodies the hope for a bright and tranquil future for Qatar and its people, emphasizing the nation's commitment to peaceful coexistence and progress.

Qatar National Day, celebrated on December 18th annually, holds particular significance for the nation. It commemorates the unification of Qatar under Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani in 1878. During this joyous occasion, Qataris celebrate their rich history, cultural heritage, and achievements. Throughout the country, the national flag is proudly displayed, symbolizing unity, pride, and sovereignty.

The flag of Qatar serves as an integral part of the nation's identity, instilling a sense of belonging and national pride among its people. Whether fluttering atop flagpoles, adorning public buildings, or unfurled during national events, the flag embodies the spirit of Qatar, reflecting the resilience, heritage, and aspirations of its citizens.
