Admitted to the union in the year 1836, the beautiful State of Michigan is bordered by five Great Lakes namely Lakes Superior, Michigan, Huron and Erie. History
The inhabitation of the land began thousands of years ago and later paved way to the Native American Tribes such as Ojibwe, the Ottawa, and the Potawatomi. The tribes who resided the land even at the arrival of Europeans and later formed a group called Council of the Three Fires. The first Europeans to set foot in the State of Michigan were french, Etienne Brule, a French explorer landed on the State in his search for a route to China in 1618. Soon laying claim to the land, they soon proceeded the trade of fur. The first permanent settlement of state was established at Sault Ste. The French and Indian war handed over the control of the state to English hands in 1763. After the American revolution the State became the part of the union in 1787. However the Britishers didn't leave until 1796 and Michigan was admitted fully to the union only in the year 1837 as 26th State.

Being hardworking, modest and outdoor-loving poeple of Michigan have resiliently grew up from the 20 years suffering after the collapse of car manufacturing sector. Also one of the most successful industrial state of America, Michigan is home to ethnically a very diverse population. The winters are spent on lakes, ice fishing or playing hockey. Detroit is the birth place of Motown sound holding a strong musical culture.

Although having no official, English is predominantly the most spoken language of the state, with Spanish and Arabic being a close second.

Sharing it's border with Indiana, Ohio, and Wisconsin in the south and the Great Lakes and Canada in the east, north, and west. Also the only U.S state with split into two Penisula, Upper and Lower in north and south respectively.
